Duties and Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>

The core duties of I.C.F.\u2122 judges include:
\u2022 Inspecting equipment to ensure compliance with I.C.F.\u2122 regulations.

\u2022\u00a0<\/span>Monitoring the course for infractions or unsportsmanlike behavior.
<\/span>\u2022 Intervening in cases of danger or discomfort to either the dog or the athlete.

Simon Lamen

In 1996 my wife and I got our first dog, a Siberian Husky, and our love for sporting dogs grew from there. We used to just run with our dogs until we discovered that it was an actual sport and took part in the first ever CaniCross race in the UK in 2002. From there we established the CaniCross trailrunners group and through Facebook we have over 30,000 members.<\/div>
Personally, I have been a Veteran Champion in Bikejor in the UK and attained a top ten placing in International competition. I was elected to the role of Technical Director of the ICF in 2019 and have continued in that role, reviewing regulations and bringing a firm but fair hand to the International Championships. I look forward to the growth of the ICF and developing the Judging capability within.<\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Active in cycling for decades. First as a track and road racer, then as a coach, sports director and now as a commissaire.<\/div>
My wife introduced me to dog sledding, and I got involved as an official in the German Sled Dog Association and as a race judge.<\/div>

I started in sled dog sports around 10 yrs ago canicrossing with my collie dog. Now I prefer to race DS2 or Bikejor with my hounds and I currently have 5 dogs. I\u2019ve been a national judge for 6-7 years and last year qualified as a race judge for the WSA – who are a Nordic pure breed association I\u2019ve work both their snow and dryland world championships. I enjoy being a race judge because I get to see all the different dogs that are competing and believe in keeping racing as fair and honest as possible for all competitors, both humans and dogs.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

My name is Guust Zagers and I live in Zundert (the Netherlands).<\/div>
From 1984-2014 we had Siberian Huskies, with which we practiced the sled dog sport. For several years I was on the board of Mushing Holland (association for purebred sled dogs) and at the FISTC (European association for purebred sled dog sport).<\/div>
\u00a0Canicross Nederland was co-founded and currently in the working group of Race Marshalls.\u00a0<\/div>
In 2010 I organized a 1st canicross competition under the name: Canicross Zundert. Done this 3 years in a row and had to stop due to circumstances. Picked up again in 2021. I started out a long time ago with a team of Nordic dogs consisting of Huskies, Malamutes and Inuit dogs.<\/div>
My first participation in the European Bikejoering Championship was in Pomiechowek, Poland, in 2003.<\/div>
Today, we only have two dogs (a Greyster and a German Shorthaired) with which I practise bikejoring.<\/div>
As a judge and judge trainer for the French Cani Cross Federation, I favour dialogue and education over repression, while maintaining a certain fairness.<\/div>

I began in 2015 with my first dog, a Bullterrier and did Canicross until he got old and only wanted to do short trails. So I got my first Alaskan Husky from rescue and began with Scootering and Bikejoring. To get to race also in winter, I began learning to do skijoring and in 2021a second Alaskan Husky came to me. With both of them I started sledding and in 2023 a Siberian Husky joined my team.\u00a0 I prefer mid distance over sprint because it is more peaceful than sprint and a lot less stressful. I like being in the mountains with my dogs hiking or sledding, this year I did my first biouvac with them.<\/div>
I wanted to be a judge because I sometimes saw things that weren’t going right and the only thing I could do to try to change something was to be a jugde and so I did the course with Rudi Bartel in Vermiglio in 2021. Then in february at the WSA WCH in Sweden I did my first training to be a WSA race judge and will continue at the dryland WCH at Maserada.<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
